Carrie Andrews is a University of California, Davis, honors graduate with a BA in English. She has worked in the publishing industry for several years as a project editor, copyeditor, and proofreader, with specialties in fiction, entertainment, and college-level textbooks. She works with companies such as Reader's Digest, Random House, Inc., Kensington Publishing, and Wadsworth/Thomson Learning. A bibliophile her entire life, Carrie has a natural talent for language. Her avid reading has helped her develop a sharp eye for detail and has honed her sense of flow. While copyediting, she strikes that delicate balance between maintaining an author's voice and making the language clear and vibrant. She is also a meticulous proofreader and fact checker. Clients have called her work "superb" and "astute." Authors enjoy Carrie's personable style and find her easy to work with. Fiction: African American, inspirational, thrillers, suspense, historical, fantasy, romance, and the classics; she welcomes new genres, however, as variety is the spice of life! Feedback "Carrie is a very professional and thorough copyeditor and proofreader. She returns work on time, has great queries, and is very neat. It has been a pleasure to work with her and I look forward to doing so in the future." -- Karina Mikhli, Kensington Publishing "Carrie stepped in and gave me a hand with proofreading at a critical point in the Wadsworth Classics series. Her positive, can-do attitude kept my project on-schedule and within budget while maintaining a very high standard of quality as befitting classics of American literature." -- Brenda Ginty, Manager, Editorial Production, Thomson Higher Education "Thanks for the great work copyediting The Company You Keep and for the great catches and queries." -- Karina Mikhli, Production Editor, Kensington Publishing "Thanks for the great work proofreading For Love and Grace. You had excellent queries, were neat, and caught a lot of important things." -- Karina Mikhli, Production Editor, Kensington Publishing "Thanks for the superb job copyediting As Real as It Gets. You didn't overdo it and had excellent queries with excellent catches." -- Karina Mikhli, Production Editor, Kensington Publishing "Your copyediting on Children of the Shadow looks great. All of your queries were excellent and insightful. Good job!" -- Bonnie Schenk Darrington, Manager of Copyediting Services, American Book Publishing "The first book Carrie copyedited for American Book Publishing was a long fantasy novel with a complicated plot, a lot of unique personal names and words, and some otherwise archaic language and sentence structure. In short, it was a difficult job, but Carrie was able to help the content editor and author correct the manuscript's mistakes and clarify its awkward sentences, while still allowing the author's voice to shine through. I knew then that she was a real asset to our company." -- Bonnie Schenk Darrington, Manager of Copyediting Services "I've truly enjoyed working with you. Even though we are on different coasts I felt that you were always available to answer any question. Your ability to identify inconsistencies in the storyline from one chapter to the next was amazing. Your editing enhanced my story, because you understood my writing style and characters in the story. I appreciate all that you have done and I wouldn't hesitate using you again on my next project." -- Thelma Terrell "It was a pleasure to work with Carrie. Although she was in CA and I in Italy, we worked well together and she understood my needs immediately, which became evident as she worked on my manuscript. Obviously experienced, very thorough and with great attention to detail. She made all the necessary changes while at the same time leaving my "tone of voice" in tact, something that I was very concerned about. Great job and I would highly recommend her services. She will be my editor for my next book!" -- Anthony L. Smith, seminar leader and motivational speaker, Jolten Educational Events and Entertainment "I appreciated Carrie's style of not trying to change my style of writing and where she wasn't sure, she 'queried.' Writing from a different country and culture and in UK English, I was afraid it would be a tedious journey to get to a point where I clicked with an editor, but that wasn't the case. I know I will use Carrie again." -- Kaine Agary, managing director, DTalkshop |
